Auditory processing is what the brain does with what the ears hear.
— Jack Katz, PhD. A leading pioneer in audiology and developer of the Buffalo Model for Auditory Processing

Understanding Auditory Processing Disorder

Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) affects how the brain processes and interprets sounds. Individuals with APD may have difficulty following verbal directions, understanding speech in noisy environments, or struggle to develop strong spelling and reading skills, even though standard hearing tests show normal hearing. With proper evaluation and targeted support, Auditory Processing Disorder is treatable!
